Josiah J. Swinney is an esteemed lawyer operating out of Indianapolis and Fishers. From trial-level cases through the appellate process, he will thoroughly explain your case and step up to handle your upcoming trial or oral argument.
Josiah graduated with honors from Indiana University McKinney School of Law. He began his legal career clerking for Solicitor General Tom Fisher. The Solicitor General handles the State’s most high profile and important cases, allowing Josiah to learn how to litigate complex issues. Josiah most enjoyed drafting for multiple cases litigated in the Supreme Court of the United States, one of which went to oral argument. In addition to the high-profile cases under the Solicitor General, Josiah would advise the Attorney General and the Chief Deputy to the Attorney General about when Indiana should join cases in other states and federal circuits. Because of Josiah’s success during this clerkship, he earned the esteemed position of Deputy Attorney General, handling high-profile cases and serving his community.
Josiah currently practices in trial courts across Indiana, the Court of Appeals, and the Indiana Supreme Court. You can find his many published wins on casetext.com or westlaw.com.
Josiah’s desire to give back extends beyond his clients—He is a firm believer in using his free time to give back to his community and to help those who need it the most. He is a board member and volunteer for Camp To Belong, an organization helping children in foster care connect and create memories with their biological brothers and sisters.
